Unleash Your Inner Comic: Standup Comedy Class
Tuesday, April 9, 16, 23 and 30, 7-10pm.
Show on Saturday May 4th 8:00 - 9:30.
Cost: $225
Would you like to sharpen your speaking, presentation or writing skills? Or are you an experienced comic who would you like to further develop your comedic voice? Or do you just stifled by your job and life and want to unleash your inner-comic? This class offers a fun challenging environment to find, refine or define your comedic voice. Through writing exercises and class performances, students will find their unique comedy voice and style. The goal of the class is to develop ten minutes of new material for a final performance. Have fun, challenge yourself, gain confidence in front of an audience, and enjoy some low cost therapy.
Class includes:
- Writing exercises towards the goal of preparing a 10 minute set for a final performance
- Performance practice - comics will get up at least one or two times per class
- Feedback on writing and performance oriented around developing your personal comedic voice
- Support/Feedback on your personal comedic style/strengths/unique gifts
- For Experienced Comics: Support navigating the comedy terrain
- For Beginner Comics: Support getting up on stage and telling a joke
- A collaborative environment to take risks and try new things
- A rockin' show

About Solange:
Solange Castro is a writer and comic who has performed all over Los Angeles and the Bay Area, and has opened for Maria Bamford. Her first comedy album, "A Journey of Self Discovery" can be found on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon and YouTube. She co-created The X Chromo-Show, a comedy show that raises money for women’s shelters. In 2014 she wrote and produced the play “Changes In The Mating Strategies of White People,” which ran at the Lounge 2 Theatre in Hollywood. She currently co-hosts the podcast “Take Down the Patriarchy” (available on iTunes) and has been chosen as “Comic of the Week” on The Jackie & Laurie Show (also on iTunes).
