Dharma Essentials:
A Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life, Part 1
Tuesdays, June 4 - July 2 from 7-9pm
in-person only
Is it wealth, hard work, or selflessness that grounds our joy? Yes and no. In this five-week course we will explore the first two of the six perfections which give us access to compassion and understanding of ourselves and others. We will unravel the strategy for practicing these perfections and lay the groundwork to actually transform your life, starting immediately. Yes, right now.
Join us in this first installment of ACI’s transformative three-part series, “Foundations of Happiness” inspired by the timeless wisdom of 'A Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life' by Master Shantideva (~700CE) as originally taught by our lineage lama, Sumati Marut (Brian Smith).
Who is the teacher? Alicia Tolbert has studied Buddhism for 19 years. She completed the Asian Classics Institute (ACI) core curriculum in 2010, the same year she began teaching. She teaches with blessing from her lama Lauren Benjamin, one of the founders of Inner Way LA.
Who is the course designed for? Novice and advanced practitioners, all are welcome. If this is your first Buddhist philosophy course or your 20th, you will learn something new and enjoy yourself on the way.
The Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life is literally a how-to be happy blueprint. If this is your goal, please join us for five fun-filled Tuesdays, June 4 - July 2 from 7-9pm in-person only.
