Community Service Event with Reading to Kids
Saturday, February 9 at 9am - Noon
Please join other members of the Middle Way LA community for a service event with Reading to Kids, a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring children in underserved areas of Los Angeles with a love of reading.
Reading to Kids coordinates monthly reading clubs at elementary schools in downtown Los Angeles where volunteers read aloud to children and create arts and crafts projects about the stories. Each child receives a book to take home and the books read aloud are donated to the school's library. Reading aloud to children imparts a love of books that leads to improved literacy, to a more successful education, and to a brighter future.
The next reading clubs are on Saturday, August 11 from 9:00am until 12:00 noon. To sign up to volunteer:
·Please visit www.readingtokids.org where you'll need to register and RSVP.
·Please sign up for Magnolia Elementary School and select " Middle Way LA" as your group.
·Please be sure to sign up soon, before Magnolia fills up with other volunteers.
Please note that you must register in advance in order to volunteer with Reading to Kids, as the organization must conduct a background check of volunteers because this activity involves working with children.
