Map to Freedom

The wisdom of the world’s spiritual traditions is now easily available to everyone. Many effective practices exist for dealing with life’s challenges and for realizing the state of ultimate freedom and love. But how do we know which of the many practices is best for us at any given time? How does one avoid getting lost or aimlessly trying one thing after the other with no results?

The Tibetan Buddhist tradition has gifted us with a “map” that can be used to safely and effectively navigate the inner world and clearly identify which practices are most helpful in any given situation. This “map” can be a helpful guide for practitioners of any spiritual tradition and for those who are simply seeking to be happy and kind.

In this course we will be guided by the “Lamp for the Path to Awakening” composed by the Buddhist Master Atisha in the 11th century. This text was the first such “map” and started a long tradition of teachings known as “The Steps on the Path” (lamrim).

This course will emphasize experiential discovery of each of the steps of a spiritual path in our own life through meditations, discussions and real-life practices.
