Are you a helping professional who feels weighed down by your own grief while supporting others? Whether you're grieving a personal loss, struggling with the aftermath of traumatic events like suicide or overdose, or carrying the invisible burden of disenfranchised grief, you're not alone.
Do you find yourself wondering how you can hold space for others while managing your own emotional pain?
Do you ever question if your grief will ever feel less overwhelming, even as you support those around you?
Have you noticed yourself suppressing your feelings in an effort to keep going for those who need you?
Do you wish there was a safe space for you to process the weight of both your personal and professional grief?
This is a workshop for those in the helping professions—mental health, healthcare, education, social services, public safety, and more—who are looking for a space to acknowledge and release their own grief.
Sunday 9/22 @ 1:00-3:30 PM in Inner Way (Culver City/Mar Vista)
This is a safe, trauma-informed space where helping professionals can step out of their roles and find support for themselves.
There are many forms of grief that we will make space for, including (but not limited to):
- Grieving patients, clients, or students who have passed
- Anticipatory grief for those facing terminal illness or chronic conditions
- The trauma of unexpected, stigmatized losses like suicide, overdose, or violence
- Disenfranchised grief, such as the loss of a relationship, a career, or one’s sense of purpose
- Grief for the self, for the part of you that feels lost in the caregiving role
- Other types of grief and loss that you are holding in your heart
This workshop combines mindfulness and experiential group techniques like psychodrama and storytelling, allowing you to express and process your grief at your own pace. All activities are optional, and you are welcome to participate in whatever way feels most comfortable for you.
In honor of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, this workshop will be donation-based, with proceeds benefiting the Didi Hirsch Suicide Prevention Crisis Hotline.
