You don't have to ignore your pain to grow spiritually. You can use the body as a deep source of energy and wisdom, which is always available if you learn how to listen and engage. Meditation involves opening compassionate communication with all parts of our being. Physical discomfort, especially in meditation, is a call to deepen your connection to the physical self. Understanding how the body and mind work together and making simple adjustments can relieve pain.
You are welcome to bring your cushion or whatever will help recreate your regular sitting setup.

David Hurwith is a Somatic Movement Educator, artist and explorer. For the last 25 years he has been teaching Anatomy and Kinesiology, Authentic Movement and Improvisational Dance, most recently at the University of California, Santa Barbara and CalArts. Mr. Hurwith offers methods of embodiment that enrich the human situation with imagination and belief.
