With Jeremy Graves
Buddha's teachings contain amazingly simple, powerful, and down-to-earth methods for healing the heart and mind, with the final goal of complete end of emotional and psychological suffering, or “Awakening.” But do these dramatic claims make sense?
Mondays, September 26 - November 28 at 7:30 - 9:30 pm
October 10th is the last opportunity to sign up for the whole series. After that, drop-ins will no longer be allowed. Audio of all classes will be provided, allowing those who missed, or will miss, any classes to listen to them.
In this course, we will take a close look at the earliest recorded foundational teachings and meditation practices of the Buddha. We will explore such questions as: what does the Buddha have to say about the nature of our experience and of the world itself? What about morality, desire, and love? What different kinds of inner work does he recommend and why? What does he have to say about Awakening, how to “get there,” and is it compatible with a modern understanding of how our minds work?
In the spirit of what the Buddha taught, you will be encouraged to delve into the teachings and challenge anything that doesn’t make sense. As the Buddha said, “Find out for yourself.”
